FORGE Ute Pass is a grassroots nonprofit founded by Ute Pass residents who recognized that wildfire resilience requires more than individual action — it requires organized, community-wide effort.
Our Story
Why FORGE Was Founded
The Ute Pass corridor — stretching from Manitou Springs through Cascade, Chipita Park, Green Mountain Falls, and into Woodland Park — is one of the most beautiful and most wildfire-vulnerable landscapes in Colorado. Dense, unhealthy forests, steep canyon terrain, and a single evacuation route create conditions that demand proactive, organized community action.
FORGE was founded on the belief that every home in the Pass deserves protection — and that protection comes from neighbors working together. Our Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP) is outdated, our communities lack coordinated mitigation programs, and insurance pressures are mounting. FORGE exists to change that.
We are a 501(c)(3) (pending) nonprofit organization, incorporated in Colorado, and governed by a volunteer board of Ute Pass residents committed to long-term forest health and community resilience.
